Canyon

In 1991 we also got another 50 tree seedlings – for about a dollar apiece – from the second Moorpark Earthday event. Unfortunately after 1991 the event not longer included low cost plant sales. We planned that they would go into the canyon, but that was delayed a year as now that the house was completed we needed to start putting in the whole property’s watering system and landscape the yard. These 50 plants were the start of the our Nursey were we grew plants from seeds and cuttings before transplanting on our property. In 1992 we expanded the drip system and the canyon was first planted with these 50 plants.

Early Work on Canyon Trial

In this picture from June 1993 you can see the first trees planted are starting to grow and the first work on the canyon trail has started.

Both pictures are taken from the same location within minutes of each other.

June 18, 1993: Early work on the lower canyon trail.

Looking down the canyon trail you can see the basic shape of the lower canyon trail and the short cut trail have been created.

My first attempts at rock walls were not that well executed.
