The Treehouse slide was the “most painful” part of the natural garden. There was a 3″ limb sticking out where the slide is. You can see the black patch where I cut off the limb under the slide.
What happened was as the limb started to fall down, I stepped back and turned off the chain saw. I then watched the end of the limb land on a rock “just right” and start to bend. The energy in the branch quickly built up as the branch bowed up higher. Then the limb shot back at me, hitting me in the left knee and sending me flying.
Side note: Jenny was 10 at the time and this is also before she changed her name to Jenee in 2000 when she was 14. Since changing the spelling of her name was the major extend of her teenage rebellion, I think we got off easy.
I was glad that Jenny had stopped helping me about 15 minutes earlier as she would have learned some words that I didn’t want her to know. I ended up having to get surgery on my knee so I could move without pain. Oh Well…
